Employee Recognition in Nepal: Make Appreciation Specific and Fair

How to make recognition meaningful without turning it into a popularity contest.

Hajiri Blog

Recognition works best when it is specific, timely and fair. Employees should understand what contribution was noticed and why it mattered. Generic praise may feel pleasant in the moment, but it does little to reinforce the behaviour a team values.

Name the contribution

Instead of saying “great job,” describe the work and its impact: resolving a customer issue before a deadline, improving a handover, helping a teammate or spotting an error before it became a bigger problem.

Make visibility fair

Some roles are naturally more visible than others. Managers should notice dependable behind-the-scenes work as well as public wins. Recognition should not reward only the people who speak most often in a meeting.

Connect it to regular feedback

Recognition belongs alongside clear expectations and constructive feedback. Hajiri’s performance workflow gives managers a place to record useful feedback so strong work is not forgotten at review time.

A healthy recognition habit is simple: notice useful work, explain its impact and do it consistently.
